How many visits does it take for a root canal?

Root Canals are one of the most common procedures done today.  Most often patients experience pain or sensitivity around the area, alerting them there is an issue. In some cases, no symptoms are present so regular dental checkups are important.

At North River Dental we provide a relaxing and stress free environment for our patients with premier dental service.  Our staff listens to patients, and we work with each patient to come up with the best treatment options.

A root canal is performed when the pulp or soft tissue in the root of a tooth becomes infected or inflamed. Local anesthesia is used to minimize any pain and this allows the patient to relax during the procedure.  Our team will remove the infected pulp, and clean up the root canal.  The space is sealed and filled, and then a crown is placed over the tooth. We offer same day crowns, or can place a temporary crown if necessary until the crown is installed.

A root canal procedure usually takes only one dental appointment in our office.  This depends on the complexity of the root canal. If the tooth is infected, or there are other complications, the procedure could take two or three appointments.

Overall, the procedure is quick and the recovery is minimal.  Patients may have sensitivity or discomfort after the procedure, but this will go away after a few days.

Our team at North River Dental will assist you with your dental needs, and will address any issues or concerns you have. We will go over how to care for your teeth after the root canal procedure.  Good oral hygiene is required, with brushing and flossing regularly. This will ensure your teeth stay healthy, and the root canal heals properly and lasts.

If you have concerns with your teeth, or suffer from pain or reoccurring sensitivity, it may be time to seek professional help.
